The Salt Lake County sheriff's and city police detectives are investigating two abductions that occurred along West Temple this week.
It was unknown Thursday if the incidents were related.About 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, a woman, 18, was walking near 33rd South and West Temple when a man in a car pulled up behind her. The man got out, twisted her arm behind her back and forced her into the car, according to a sheriff's report.
The man drove to a parking lot near 28th S. Main Street where he stopped the car, and grabbed her, attempting to push her to the floor. The assailant struck her in the face and she began kicking him in the face, knocking him back.
She eventually escaped from the vehicle and called police.
Tuesday afternoon, a 7-year-old girl was walking along West Temple near 10th South when a man in a car stopped and forced her into the vehicle. After putting duct tape over her mouth, the man took her down an alley and put her into a closet on the back porch of a house, according to a police report.
The abductor later gave the girl some candy and money then took off the tape, said, "You can go now," and let her go, according to the report.
