University of Massachusetts officials have allowed a junior college transfer to rejoin the team although he has been charged with breaking and entering.

George Hardin, who had arrived on campus days earlier, was arrested with team Captain David Brown and starter Duane Chase by Amherst police on Jan. 3. Brown and Chase, both seniors, have since withdrawn from school. All three have pleaded innocent and face trial in April."We want to be fair to him," Jeanne Hopkins, a univesrity spokeswoman, said of Hardin. "We feel he has paid sufficient penalties for violation of team policy (breaking curfew)."

The 6-5 forward averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds a game last season at Salt Lake Community Community College in Utah.
