BSD Medical Corp., the Salt Lake-based company that makes hyperthermia systems used to treat cancerous tumors, is considering entering the field of industrial electromagnetic equipment.

The firm's interest lies in electromagnetic equipment that would be used in heating and drying of plastic, rubber and other materials.Alan L. Himber, company president, anticipates the primary markets for the company's industrial division will include the pharmaceutical, food packaging, coatings and plastic resin drying industries.

With 19 patents so far, BSD is the technological leader in electromagnetic heating for medical purposes, and Himber believes the company will become the leader in the industrial electromagnetic heating equipment field as well.
