Interested in law enforcement but can't find a job in Utah?

Try Nevada. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is looking for a few good men and women."We simply have more job openings in Las Vegas than we do people interested in the job," said Officer Karen Pereyda, one of two Metro recruiters in town seeking applicants to fill up to 200 new positions. The recruiters will be at the Airport Hilton Tuesday 7-9 p.m. to answer questions.

Because Las Vegas is growing rapidly, Clark County, Nev., voters passed a bond issue last year that gives the county money to hire the needed officers. New officers receive a base salary of $2,006 per month, said recruiter Tony Arnone.

Aspiring police officers interested in working in Las Vegas, but who can't make it to Tuesday's meeting can inquire by writing Metro Personnel Bureau, 601 E. Fremont, Las Vegas, NV 89101, or by calling (702) 799-3497. Applications are due Feb. 24.
