A Feb. 27 sentencing date has been set for a Midvale man found guilty Monday of negligent homicide in the hit-and-run death of a teenage skateboarder.

Miles M. Jefferson, 26, 122 E. 7060 South, was found guilty of the Class A misdemeanor after being accused of driving the car that struck and killed Tony Lee Burr, 15, of Sandy, while Burr was riding a skateboard on Bengal Boulevard near 25th East on Oct. 10. Burr's body was discovered about 10:30 p.m.Investigators from the Salt Lake County sheriff's department arrested Jefferson after finding broken fragments of a plastic turn signal cover at the scene that were matched to Jefferson's Toyota Celica.

The sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. before 3rd Circuit Judge Maurice Jones, who also presided at Jefferson's jury trial.
