Construction crews rerouting U.S. 40 around the Jordanelle Dam are on target for completion by September 1989, the Utah Department of Transportation reports.
Two different contractors are involved in the project, called by one UDOT official "one of the largest earth-moving jobs in recent UDOT history." A $21.3 million contract with W.W. Clyde of Springville calls for the removal of 6.75 million cubic yards of material to be used for fills and embankments.
The contract also calls for 4.4 miles of new highway between Mayflower and Midway.
J.J. Welcome of Redland, Wash., has a $28 million contract to construct 6.4 miles of highway between Mayflower and Park City.
