Dale Murphy said he's ready to begin exercising today, but the New York Mets said Tuesday's minor surgery on the Atlanta outfielder's right knee may imperil trade talks.

Murphy, 32, had slightly torn cartilage removed from his knee in arthroscopic surgery Tuesday."It's certainly a concern any time you have a player undergoing surgery past the age of 30," said Joe McIlvaine, Mets vice president for baseball operations. "He's a good physical condition and (the operation) wasn't too serious. But it is a yellow flag."
