Rep. Howard Nielson, R-Utah, has been awarded the 1987 Golden Bulldog Award for his voting record, which reflects efforts to cut government spending and reduce the national deficit, according to the government watchdog group making the award.

Nielson, a five-time recipient of the award, had a 100 percent voting record to limit government spending on certain economic and fiscal issues listed in the "Economy Voting Record." His record matches that of Rep. Jim Hansen, R-Utah, who also had a 100 percent voting record.Nielson was presented the award by The Watchdogs of Treasury Inc., a nonpartisan organization based in Washington, D.C.
