Dan Quayle left Wednesday on a three-day trip to Latin America, a trip the administration hopes will help his image at home and abroad. Quayle carried few, if any, specific messages on the swing to Venezuela and El Salvador, but he was described as viewing the journey as a chance to demonstrate he will be a full player in the Bush administration. The centerpiece of the Venezuela portion of the trip is the Thursday inauguration of President Carlos Andres Perez. He will meet separately with leaders of five Latin American countries.
