The BYU men's track and field team won its first indoor meet of the winter season Saturday by edging Boise State for the team title in the Holiday Inn/Idaho State Invitational. The Cougars finished with 521/2 points;, followed by Boise State, 51; Colorado, 46; Weber State, 371/2; and Idaho State, 20. Most of BYU's points came in the sprints, with sophomore Frank Fredricks qualifying for the NCAA nationals with a 6.23 first-place time in the 55-meter dash. Teammate John Myles-Mills, a freshman from Ghana, finished second at 6:28. The Cougars took first, second and fourth in the high hurdles with Ghana freshman Sowah Marley, Kelly Murdock and Sean McAlmonth.
