It has long been recognized that Utah has some of the finest skiers, and now it's been shown that it also has some of the finest ski instructors.

Of the 13 members selected to represent the Intermountain Division of the Professional Ski Instructor of America demonstration team, 12 represent Utah resorts. After three days of testing, a field of 39 of the best ski instructors in the Intermountain Division, 13 instructors - 10 regular and three alternates - were selected.

According to Stew Marsh of the PSIA and one of the testers, instructors were evaluated on both skiing and teaching skills. The 13 will represent the Intermountain Division of the PSIA for a three-year period. During that period the team will give clinics to association members to help improve skiing and teaching skills in technique and style. It will also present skiing demonstrations at various resorts.

Those named were Ernie Anderson, Jackson Hole; Ed Chauner, JoAnn Garuccio, Rodger Renstrom, Jay Shortsleeves and Jerry Thoreson all of Snowbird; Bob Barnes and Tom Wood of Deer Valley; and Phil Beliveau and Caroline Jalbert of Alta.
