A one-count indictment charging an illegal alien once deported from the United States has re-entered the country unlawfully was handed up by U.S. Attorney Brent Ward's office Monday.

Miguel Gomez-Gutierrez, was charged with re-entry of a deported alien. A man arrested and deported on or about April 17, 1986, was found in Salt Lake City on March 14, the indictment said.

The man faces a maximum possible penalty of two years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, or both.
