Two men were being held in the Salt Lake County Jail Friday after a South Salt Lake man said he was abducted from a Murray business Thursday afternoon and robbed of $800.
The 43-year-old victim told police he was at a storage unit business at 4195 S. Fifth West in Murray at about 2:15 p.m. when he was detained and had his nose and mouth bloodied and teeth knocked loose by a man, according to Murray detective Jeff Anderson. The victim said he agreed to give the man - and another customer at the business who got involved in the conflict - $800 after he cashed a check. The two men drove the victim to West Valley City to pick up the check, Anderson said. The victim said he escaped at a gas and tire store at 3847 S. Redwood while the two men were putting gas in the truck the three were driving in. An employee at the store contacted West Valley police for the victim.
Anderson said the man's money was recovered. The two men, both Salt Lake residents, were arrested later in the evening. A jail booking officer said the two men were being held without bail Friday for investigation of robbery.
