The city finally has admitted Ragtime the tiny stallion is really a horse of a different color.
After a two-year fight to evict the pint-sized steed that Patty Fairchild keeps as a pet, the City Council voted Wednesday night to give up.Larry Horner, mayor of this Los Angeles suburb, said the decision came partly because council members were afraid of being saddled with an international reputation as animal-haters.
"From New york to Nova Scotia, people are telling us to stop picking on the horse," Horner said. "It's time to just bow out of it."
Ragtime, who stands just 27 inches tall, is a special breed of miniature horse. He sleeps in the yard but has the run of the house, and is even allowed to sit on the sofa and watch television.
