A Salt Lake man has begun serving up to five years in Utah State Prison in connection with the April 14, 1988, traffic death of a friend.
Michael O. Seiber, 37, was also ordered by 3rd District Judge Richard Moffat to pay more than $16,000 in restitution and a $2,250 fine.Seiber pleaded guilty last fall to vehicle homicide, admitting that he was intoxicated while driving the car that crashed into another car at 400 E. Third South and later struck a bus at 300 E. Eighth South.
A.V. Jones, Seiber's passenger, was severely injured in the second crash and died a short time later.
Laboratory tests revealed that Seiber's blood was 0.27 percent alcohol, more than three times Utah's legal limit of 0.08 percent.
