BYU forward Michael Smith said Thursday he is planning on staying with the Cougars for his senior season.
Smith, a 6-10 all-America, joins such stars as Arizona's Sean Elliott and Oklahoma's Stacey King in opting to finish out their collegiate eligibility. The decision came after spending five days at his home in Hacienda Heights, Calif., talking with family members and assessing the situation."I've decided to stay. That's the decision to stay for my last year. I'm going to make it work," he said.
With the graduation of high-scoring forward Jeff Chatman and starting center Jim Usevitch, Smith last year's top scorer is expected to assume an even larger share of the scoring duties. "I don't know whether we'll be changing offenses," said Smith. "I would hope we would change."
