The Little America Grand Ballroom will provide an elegant backdrop for prancing carousel horses and black-tie invited guests Jan. 27 during the Utah Symphony Guild's annual fund raiser.

The Carousel Ball, chaired by Dora Lakin, will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a social hour and auction; dinner, program and dancing follow at 7:30 p.m.Jane Harrington is directing a silent auction, and a second "live" auction will feature unusual gifts. A special Utah Jazz package will include airfare for two to Dallas, Texas, on April 21, two nights at the Hyatt Regency where the Jazz will stay, two tickets to the Utah Jazz/Dallas Mavericks game and a basketball autographed by Jazz players.

Daynes Music has prepared a unique grand piano with Duo-Art player mechanism donated by a local doctor. A Children's Extravaganza, with the participation of Olympic archer Denise Parker, will be offered to the highest bidder. Twelve other concertgoers will join Parker at the Feb. 25 youth concert and a backstage meeting with Associate Conductor Christopher Wilkins. The group will conclude the afternoon with lunch.

The guild will also be auctioning vacations, jewelry and pieces of art.

Guild president Linda Babcock is being supported in this fundraiser by former president Joan Svikhart. Table arrangements and decorations are by Elaine Williams, Betty Clark and Rea Miller. Carousel horse favors are being designed by Julie Kenley, entertainment will be provided by City Rep through Shirley Rasmussen, and the drawing for an eight-day cruise for two on the Carnival Cruise Line offered by Thomas Travel is being conducted by Lee Paulsen.

Shirley Sargent is directing the hosts and hostesses, Helen Kimball the program. Treasurer of the guild ball committee is Rosalie Frost; secretary is Betty Allen. Graphics have been contributed by Jenny Borthick, Spencer Budd and McGarry Signs. Joyce Skidmore is in charge of publicity.

The Crestmark Orchestra will provide the music, with Doug Wright as master of ceremonies and auctioneer. Co-sponsoring the Carousel Ball are Mr. and Mrs. M. Garfield Cook and Murdock Travel.
