The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is sending Arizona's Fish and Game Department a shipment of healthy fish eggs to help replace the state's German brown trout brood stock that were destroyed because of disease.

DWR officials say the Egan Fish Hatchery, near Loa in Wayne County, was to pack several thousand surplus eggs that are close to hatching. A DWR airplane was to be used to transport the eggs to Salt Lake City, where a commercial flight will take them to Phoenix.Officials did not provide specific dates for those shipments.

Hatchery Assistant Superintendent Richard Jensen said it was not unusual for his facility to have a surplus, since it aims to produce more than enough to meet the state's needs.
