Thomas F. Hawkes, treasurer and vice president of First Security Corp., died April 27, 1988.
Mr. Hawkes, 85, had been a Utah banker for 65 years, first joining First Security's predecessor institution, the Central Trust Co., in Salt Lake City in 1923.In 1945, Mr. Hawkes became comptroller of First Security Corp., and later became its treasurer and vice president positions he still held at the time of his death. He was one of only three First Security officers to have worked for the corporation for more than 50 years.
Mr. Hawkes was born Jan. 8, 1903, in London, England. He married Virginia Taylor Romney in 1928. She died in 1983. Mr. Hawkes was educated in England and attended the University of Utah.
He was a member of the Alta Club, the Fort Douglas/Hidden Valley Country Club and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is survived by three children and four grandchildren.
Funeral will begin at noon April 30 at 260 E. South Temple.
