There was a jailbreak at the new $2.5 million Erath County Jail in Stephenville, Texas, but Sheriff David Coffee and his deputies weren't upset.
They were just relieved to get out.It seems that Coffee and some of his deputies accidentally got locked inside a hallway between cells at the jail Monday and had to stage a breakout to get free.
The unplanned lock-in occurred as the sheriff was showing off the security system of the unopened jail.. When the door to the control room suddenly slammed shut, all the doors locked automatically, leaving the keys inside the control room and the law officers trapped outside.
It took about an hour, but the posse finally devised a plan of escape.
They found two poles left from the construction work and fitted them together, inserted them through a slot in the control room door and retrieved the keys.
