Utah's savings institutions loaned $652 million in mortgages during the first 10 months of 1988, the Utah League of Insured Savings Institutions said.

League president Paul Neuenschwander said that from Jan. 1-Oct. 31, 1988, payments on outstanding mortgages totaled $469 million.He said the 13 institutions surveyed by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board hold $5.3 billion in mortgage loans, out of $7.4 billion in assets. Deposits as of Oct. 31 totaled $4.6 billion. In October 1987, total deposits were $4.5 billion and assets were $6.9 billion.
