Twenty kilograms of cocaine were found aboard Eastern Airlines Flight 50 Tuesday as it was preparing to leave Miami for New York, an airline spokeswoman said.

The flight originated in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and stopped in Cali, Colombia, before arriving in Miami, but Customs Service agents searched the L-1011 when it arrived in Miami and found no drugs, Eastern spokeswoman Karen Ceremsak said. The flight to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport was being prepared at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when a flight attendant saw a piece of plastic and "discovered what appeared to be a packet of cocaine concealed in a door panel," Ceremsak said.

A second search by Customs agents revealed a total of 20 kilograms of cocaine hidden in two doors and in the lavatory, she said.
