Clifford Sanders Berg had an unexpected run-in with Utah Jazz star Karl Malone last year.
Now he wants Salt Lake County to pay him $250,000 because of it, according to a claim submitted Wednesday to county attorneys.Berg was sitting in the front row last April during the second game of Utah's playoff series with Golden State when a fight broke out between Malone and the Warriors' Greg Ballard, the claim said.
Fans and players fell against Berg, who said he suffered injuries to his back, hips and legs. So far, medical expenses have cost $9,929.87, and Berg is confined to a bed or re-cliner in his home, the claim said.
The claim said the county, which owns the Salt Palace arena, failed to provide for Berg's safety.
County attorneys said they will review the claim. Berg's attorney was unavailable for comment Wednesday.
