Contests in three categories - literature, music, and fine arts and crafts - are being sponsored by the Utah association of American Mothers Inc., in conjunction with the group's state convention set for Feb. 18 at the Salt Lake Hilton.

Each entry in each category requires a $5 entry fee.The vocal music contest has two divisions, one for single women age 18-21 and one for mothers age 18 and older. Those participating must have studied voice for at least one year and submit a tape of musical selections, along with a photograph, a recommendation from a sponsor in the music field and verification of age.

Categories in the literary contest include poetry, essay or articles and short fiction. Materials must be unpublished and must have been written after Jan. 1, 1985. For more information contact Jean Jensen, 1632 Millcreek Way, Salt Lake City, 466-6931.

The fine arts portion of that category includes paintings, graphics, oils, acrylics, watercolors, charcoals and sculpture. Crafts include needlework, weaving, ceramics, jewelry and other media.
