An increase in property tax credits is just one topic senior citizens will discuss when an estimated 600 of them attend Senior Citizen Days at the Legislature.
Registration is from 9 to 9:30 a.m. All counties except Weber, Morgan, Davis and Salt Lake will attend Jan. 25. Salt Lake County senior citizens will attend Jan. 30 and Weber, Morgan and Davis on Feb. 8.Utah has more than 160,000 residents older than 60. Polls indicate that senior citizens represent the largest voting bloc by age in the state.
Sponsored by the Utah Seniors Legislature, Seniors Day is a forum during which legislators discuss bills of interest to the senior citizens, who in turn lobby legislators.
The morning will begin with a welcome by the governor's office, an overview of bills and lobbying of legislators. Legislators and participants will then meet for lunch. All meetings take place in the State Office Building Auditorium, north of the capitol. To reserve lunches, contact your local senior center or area agency on aging.
