Salt Lake City police, trying to combat the effects of a harsh winter, are asking car owners to help them keep the city's roadways clear of snow by moving cars from the streets.

This will enable city street department crews to effectively clear snow and also keep vehicle owners in compliance with city law, the department said in a prepared release."We wish to remind the vehicle owners that it is a violation of city ordinance to use the street for storage of vehicles. Vehicles in violation of city ordinance can be impounded at the owner's expense," the release said.
