Work begins this week on the first phase of a project to widen and rebuild Redwood Road from North Temple to 10th North, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

Work is also under way on Seventh North, between Redwood and I-215, as part of the $3.5 million project. The speed limit will be lowered to 35 mph on the affected segment of Redwood until the project is completed next fall.

The project involves reconstructing the road and widening the road to accommodate four 12-foot lanes with a 10-foot shoulder on each side and a 14-foot median for left turns. Curb, gutter and sidewalk will also be installed on both sides of the road.

A new traffic signal will be installed at Redwood and Fifth North, and existing signals at Seventh North and 10th North will be upgraded.
