A 25-foot geyser showered the Little America Motel with water early Wednesday morning, covering the roof with ice and flooding two underground parking lots after a 10-inch water line broke on Main near Fifth South. The break was reported at 4:48 a.m. and the broken line continued to spray water and road gravel into the air for another 30 minutes. Spray from the broken line froze on a number of nearby trees and motel balcony railings and covered the sidewalk and street with ice. Later in the morning, officials assessed the damage to cars and one of the motel buildings, and Salt Lake public works crews repaired the line.
