First baseman Alvin Davis of the Seattle Mariners has agreed to terms with the American League baseball club for a new three-year contract, the team has announced.

The Associated Press learned from sources that Davis, 28, will receive $4.45 million; $1.25 million in 1989, $1.475 million in 1990 and $1.725 million in 1991.Davis, 1984 American League Rookie of the Year, filed for salary arbitration Monday. He earned $922,500 last season. The Mariners announced his signing Tuesday.

In his first five seasons with the Mariners, Davis has averaged 22 home runs and 87 RBI a season and has a lifetime batting average of .287.
