Surrealist painter Salvador Dali was in stable condition Wednesday in the intensive care unit of a Spanish hospital after suffering heart failure, doctors said.
A six-doctor team at Figueras Hospital said the 84-year-old artist was in no immediate health danger. In a medical statement this morning, the doctors said, "If there is no major change in his condition, no further medical statements will be issued until Friday."Dali has suffered chronic heart ailments in recent years. He has been hospitalized three times the last two months for severe heart trouble and in 1986 underwent surgery to receive a pacemaker.
