An American Fork man who pleaded guilty last month to committing incest with two of his teenage granddaughters will undergo a 90-day diagnostic examination at the state prison.
At the request of public defender Tom Patton, Fourth District Judge Cullen Y. Christensen ordered the defendant, Clyde Baxter, 61, to undergo an evaluation at the state prison. A hearing on the examination results will be April 14.Baxter originally faced charges of aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony, and forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony. Those charges were dropped in exchange for his guilty pleas to the incest charges, third-degree felonies.
Baxter could receive a maximum prison term of zero to five years and a $5,000 fine on each of the incest counts.
