The Boston Globe Wednesday said it learned from reliable National Football League sources that the Dallas Cowboys franchise is for sale.

A brief report by staff reporter Will McDonough said Bum Bright, who headed a group that bought the team in 1984, has come upon hard times financially in the last two years and is trying to sell his controlling interest in the team, and in Texas Stadium.

The Cowboys had their worst year in attendance at Texas Stadium last year, when fans soured on the team after the 24-day players strike, and the team reportedly lost several millions dollars, the newspaper said.
