Doors for the new $1.1 million Pleasant Grove Post Office opened Tuesday.
The new facility, located at 100 W. 180 South, is about five times larger than the building that housed the old post office. "We were really cramped over there and it was a safety hazard," said Postmaster Wally Adams. The new facility features 528 post office boxes and 26 parcel lockers. There is also a large parking lot and a convenient drive-through mail drop. Post office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
The Pleasant Grove Post Office employs 23 people, and services six city routes and three rural routes. An average of 24,500 pieces of mail are delivered by the branch each day.
An open house will be held at the new facility at a later date.
