Authorities are still investigating the cause of a fire that razed several sheds behind a West Valley house Monday afternoon.

"It was really going. There were flames everywhere," said West Valley Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Scharman. Flames shot 25 feet into the air, burning nearby trees and fences behind the house at 3406 W. 47th South.Scharman said firefighters were especially concerned because of reports that the adjacent buildings contained a propane tank. Firefighters were able to locate the tank, however, and removed it from the burning debris. No one was injured during the fire, which occurred about 3:50 p.m.

Rush-hour traffic backed up in several directions while police officers blocked off 47th South between 32nd and 36th West. Motorists in the area were detoured while firefighters fought the blaze. Damage was estimated at $5,000.

Scharman said firefighters responded to the house only three minutes after receiving the call.
