Officials from the Soviet Union, Marriott Corp. and Utah-based Huntsman Chemical Corp. met Tuesday in the Soviet Embassy to announce a joint venture that would cater food to the Soviet airline Aeroflot.
A statement issued from Aeroflot Soviet Airline's office in Washington, D.C., said the joint venture would involve building a facility in Moscow "to provide high-quality airline catering service to Aeroflot and other international flights in the USSR."Marriott, the largest airline food caterer in the world, and owner of Marriott Hotels, has catered Aeroflot's flights between the United States and USSR for three years.
Neither Marriott nor Huntsman Chemical would comment on the Moscow facility before the scheduled press conference.
Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Huntsman Chemical will provide polystyrene packaging for the food served on the Aeroflot flights, a company spokesman said.
