A pickup truck rests on a guardrail after being knocked across three lanes of I-80 at Fifth East about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday. The driver, Leon McCoid, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of the truck and may have been run over by it after the vehicle was hit from behind by a Lewis Brothers coach. McCoid, 64, Salt Lake City, was listed in guarded condition at Holy Cross Hospital shortly after the accident. Utah Highway Patrol Trooper James Dudzinski said McCoid slowed down because of heavy morning commuter traffic, and the bus, driven by Albert Sandberg, 33, Salt Lake, hit him. The bus driver and his 12 passengers were not hurt. However, Suzanne Thurber, 22, Sandy, suffered minor injuries when her car was hit by the skidding truck, Dudzinski said. The bus driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions, Dudzinski said.
