Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon was released Saturday from Centinela Hospital Medical Center after undergoing surgery on his right knee, a spokesman for the hospital said.

McMahon, 29, had tendinitis in the knee, said Dr. Frank Jobe of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic at the hospital. "His recovery period will last three months," Jobe said. "He should do fine next season without limitations."
