Over the past 61/2 years, on-the-job training programs sponsored by the Davis County Private Industry Council have cycled nearly $900,000 into the local business community.
The council typically pays 50 percent of the salary during a 400-hour training period. Almost 2,500 workers have been trained in the program, Richard Nelson, council director said.As of July 1988, 732 businesses had received money from the training programs, and 1,377 workers have been placed. Between July 1987 and July 1988, $147,000 was spent on training programs. Since July, an additional $18,000 has been spent.
