The athletic director and head basketball coach at Salt Lake Community College both resigned Friday after an apparent disagreement with the school's administration.

Athletic director Ron Gerber will be leaving the school in the next couple of weeks to pursue "a business opportunity outside of academia."Basketball Coach Dave Osborn's resignation took effect Friday. Osborn, a part-time coach, was in his second year as the head coach and had compiled a 13-4 record this year.

"It is becoming increasingly evident to me that the time required to be successful at coaching is more that I can offer in a part-time basis," he said in a prepared statement. Osborn noted that the demands from his business and family were factors in his resignation.

Judd Morgan, vice president of student services, said both Gerber and Osborn had done "an exceptional job," but he gave a clue as to the resignations by saying, "there was a difference in the goals and objectives of the coaches and the administration."

Max Lloyd, an assistant coach for SLCC, will take over as interim coach for the rest of the season, while a search will commence to fill the athletic director's post.
