Utah residents are not likely to see much new except for a lower power bill following Utah Power and Light Co.'s merger with PacifiCorp.
Dave Meade, UP&L media relations director, said electric billings will still come under the name Utah Power & Light. The utility has dropped the word company from its name, but other than that, things will be the same. The lower power bill should occur sometime in March as part of the Utah Public Service Commission's approval of the merger. The approval order requires a 2 percent reduction in rates within 60-days of the merger settlement and an additional 3 percent reduction over the next four years.
