Women and their health professionals are no longer willing to allow women's health issues to be written off as "female problems." The result is a revolutionary rethinking on such topics as child birth, cancer, menopause and PMS.

A six-part series probing some of these women's health issues begins Sunday in The Deseret News. The series, written by Deseret News medical writer JoAnn Jacobsen-Wells, looks at how the rate of Caesarean section births varies from hospital to hospital in Utah. It discusses what doctors think about PMS and talks to women who have experienced postpartum depression, a disease that is often left undiagnosed and untreated.

The series has information for women from their teenage years until after menopause and for the men with whom they work and live.
