A West Valley man has filed suit against Albertson's Inc., claiming the supermarket chain engaged in age discrimination when it demoted and reassigned him.
The U.S. District Court suit was filed by Ken Jensen, 3985 Renault Circle, who claims the store engaged in the kinds of activities prohibited by anti-racketeering laws. Based on that, it asks that the requested $15,000 in damages be trebled.Jensen was between 40 and 70, ages covered by federal laws against age discrimination, the suit says. Over the past seven years, he reached the position of produce clerk.
But in January 1988, it says, "Albertson's closed the store where plaintiff had been employed and proceed to demote (him) and transferred him to a store distant from his home and previous employment."
