Last year at Sen. Jake Garn's Senators' Cup ski race, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, injured his knee. If he injures it again over the weekend at this year's Senators' Cup - he's ready.
"He's going in the hospital to have his knee operated on anyway after the race," said Garn's press secretary, Paul Smith. He said the knee injury has bothered Hatch all year and reached the point where surgery is "knee-ded."
Hatch is expected to take things easy for about a week after the surgery. "We don't expect him to jump right back on his skis afterward," Smith said. But Hatch is expected to be in Washington for George Bush's inaugural on Jan. 20 - and aides are anxious to see whether Hatch will dance at the inaugural ball.
