Phil Hurtado, city window clerk at the Postal Service's Sugarhouse Station, brightened the day for Mrs. R.P. Neeley, 3406 S. 620 East, with his willingness to go a little further than duty required.
She received a Christmas card from a friend in Alabama that otherwise might have gone astray, because Hurtado recognized the address on the envelope as Neeley's phone number rather than her street number. He called; she came down and retrieved the card.
Neeley said her friend had been confused by the return address sticker on a card she'd sent to Alabama, because it included her phone number under the name.
"The Post Office goes the extra mile from time to time, and I thought that was really neat," she said.
