- The tornado that hit Sandy Tuesday was the first documented tornado to assault Utah during the month of January since the weather service began keeping records in 1950, said Bill Alder, chief Utah meteorologist at the National Weather Service.

- It was the fourth tornado in Salt Lake County in 38 years. The last one hit Sept. 9, 1986.- Utah has had 53 reported tornadoes since 1950, averaging 1.3 per year.

- No one has ever been killed in a Utah tornado.
