American Connie Johnston shattered her own world record for the deaf Wednesday by winning the heptathlon at the track and field meet of the World Games for the Deaf.

Johnston, of North Ogden, Utah, won all the events comfortably except for the final one, the 800 meters, in which she was runner-up. The Weber State trackster's time for the event was good enough to give her the world record of 4,903 points.
