The Marines are still taking 'em young and turning out tough, well-trained men - if a Salt Laker is any indication.

Marine Pfc. Travis Suazo, 18, a 1988 West High School graduate, was graduated Dec. 30 from Company H, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, where he was chosen a "platoon honorman" among a class of 62. He was the only one in the platoon to earn his dress blue uniform. He also achieved a perfect physical fitness score of 300 points and was meritoriously promoted to private first class.

The son of Pete Suazo and Karen Suazo, the Marine reservist hopes to become an officer. He is now attending the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton. Suazo was recruited by Staff Sgt. D.J. Rogers with the Salt Lake Marine Corps Recruiting office.
