Three members of the Utah Army National Guard competed in the 13th annual Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. recently.
The Utah Guard runners were Col. Ross Higgins and SSgt. Pam Jennings, both of Salt Lake City, and SSgt. Leland Jonas, Price. More than 12,000 runners competed in the event.
Of the three, Jonas turned in the best time, 2:54:34. Higgins' time was 2:55:16 and Jennings ran the marathon in 3:44:45. Winning time in the race was 2:21:58, turned in by Jim Hage of Lanham, Md. The top woman in the race, Lori Lawson, Philadelphia, finished the course in 2:51:25.
