Mt. Pleasant has decided to spend $5.5 million upgrading its hydroelectric generating system by replacing two old plants in Pleasant Creek Canyon and adding two new units.

One new unit will be built above the city's irrigation pond and the other on the pressurized irrigation system. The city expects to obtain 80 percent of the $5.5 million cost of the project in the form of a 30-year loan from the Farmers Home Administration and the rest from an independent funding agency.
