Jim Workman, qualified plans coordinator for Shearson Lehman Hutton, will hold a seminar on "How to Invest Your Retirement Plan According to the Employment Retirement Income Security Act" Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center's Clark Auditorium.
The featured speaker will be John Lohr, first vice president and national director for portfolio management and consulting services training for Shearson. Prior to joining the company in 1987, Lohr was a vice president and general counsel for AFA Financial and a partner in the law firm of Farrell and Lohr.Workman said the seminar will focus on the five standards of conduct established by ERISA to guide fiduciaries; four criteria for analyzing investment alternatives; and how to structure retirement plans to reduce the risk of fraud and large losses.
Admission will be $10 with the proceeds going to the Central Utah Health Care Foundation. A matching contribution will be made by the company.
